When I am not working on my dissertation or teaching, I am a composer, clarinetist, Hungarian student, world traveler/blogger, and Georgia football fan!
Composer. I was privileged to study at Central Michigan University under the most amazing David Gillingham. He is truly such a warm and compassionate human being. I have a few works for sale on JW Pepper and I am always willing to write for ensembles upon request. I am currently working on a symphony for band and a Hanukkah arrangement for the University Heights Symphonic Band. To see my works online, please visit JW Pepper here.
Clarinetist. I currently play Eb and Bb Clarinet for the University Heights Symphonic Band based in University Heights, Ohio. I have come to really enjoy my experiences in the band and the people I perform with. Most of the band's performances occur at John Carrol University. You can find out more at their website here.

Clinician. I have been honored on there occasions to conduct the 6th Grade Honor Band (on two occasions) and the 7th/8th Grade Honor Bands from Douglas County, Georgia.
I also served as clinician for visiting bands while studying at the University of Southern California. I also have served as an adjudicator for Trills and Thrills in Marietta, Georgia. |
Hungarian Student. I currently take weekly classes at the Cleveland Hungarian School (Clevelandi Magyar Iskola). Igen, Magyar vagyok! After taking up my mom's amazing work on our family history (before the internet, I may add) I began to search my family's roots. I was able to find the village my family is from in Hungary and, to my surprise, living relatives. This has been the biggest gift to me. I love taking time writing (and trying to practice my Hungarian) with my cousins. In March 2019, I was fortunate enough to visit and meet them and visit the village itself. Thus began my education in all things Hungarian! I am currently learning Hungarian at the school so that I may claim my citizenship from Hungary. This has been such a wonderful journey. Adult classes are Mondays from 6:30-8:30. Visit the school's facebook page to contact them here.
World Traveler/Blogger. During a conversation after school, a friend and colleague looked at me and said, "You know, you should come up with some side hustle revolving around your love of traveling." So I am slowly compiling pictures and tips of my travels around the world at my blog. I have a facebook page and the blog is located here. Yes, the photo to the left are all my travels.
Georgia Football Fan. One of the best times of my life was being a student at the University of Georgia. Being a member of the Sudler Trophy award winning Redcoat Band and Wind Symphony (now called the Wind Ensemble) was such a blessing. I got to play such beautiful music with such dedicated musicians. In 1999, I helped start a chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi. I also co-arranged the famous (or infamous) "Choke" cheer the Redcoats play to this day (an arrangement of "dies irae"). Although my life has sent me around the Nation and world, I always take time to watch the Dawgs on TV. You can often find me on the Dawgvent under the name SumterDawg. commiserating with my fellow dawg fans.
